The Senior Manager of Quality & Safety, Informatics & Data serves as the departmental lead for all quality improvement and safety initiatives within Critical Care. Partnering with clinical and operational stakeholders, this role helps set strategic priorities, develop clear execution plans, and build a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement. The Senior Manager defines performance indicators, manages departmental accreditation readiness, and leverages data to drive informed decision-making and system-level improvements.

Here's What You'll Get To Do

Function as the Departmental Quality Team Lead

  • Collaborate with other Quality Leads to drive departmental and system-level strategic quality initiatives.
  • Co-chair the Critical Care Medicine Quality & Safety Committee
  • Use data and trend analysis to identify risks, set improvement targets, and measure progress toward KPIs and strategic priorities.

Support and Lead a Diverse Team as People Manager

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a multidisciplinary team, including:

Drive a Culture of Safety and Continuous Improvement

  • Champion the Daily Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) and Caring Safely initiatives across the department.
  • Review safety reports, ensure timely follow-up, and help translate findings into meaningful improvement.

Maintain Quality Standards & Accreditation Readiness

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and review of evidence-based department policies and procedures.
  • Function as Accreditation Lead for both Critical Care and Organ & Tissue Donation
  • Coordinate audits (e.g., CLABSI), analyze results, and guide teams through corrective action planning.

Education, Knowledge Sharing & Leadership Engagement

  • Deliver Just Culture education as part of staff onboarding and ongoing learning initiatives.
  • Represent Critical Care on hospital-wide quality and safety committees, working groups, and external forums.
  • Contribute to system-wide learning by sharing best practices and lessons learned across the organization.

Essential Requirements

Here's what you'll need:

  • Clinical experience in a Healthcare Profession
  • Masters-level preparation in healthcare quality or related clinical field and/or relevant experience in quality, safety, and risk management
  • Current Registration with a healthcare professional body
  • Experience managing, coaching, developing others
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, team building and leadership skills
  • Strong critical thinking and analytic skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data for clinical, operational or research purposes
  • Expertise in process and quality improvement methodology, with demonstrated success in leading improvement projects in the clinical/healthcare setting
  • Understanding of change management principles
  • Understanding of SickKids, Caring Safely and Daily CIP program
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and experience advancing EDI objectives

Assets

  • Relevant clinical experience in the Critical Care Setting
  • Knowledge of Accreditation Canada Standards and experience with demonstrating adherence to quality standards
  • Understanding of Epic workflows
  • Experience working in inpatient and outpatient clinical environments

Employment Type

  • Full time, 1 year contract
  • 37.5-hour work week
