JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team as Senior Manager, Projects based in Pickering, ON.
Reporting to the Project Director, the Senior Manager, Projects will provide leadership to OPG employees on various projects. This role involves ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance by executing projects in accordance with standards and processes related to phase-gating, integration management, scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, communication, stakeholder engagement, risk, estimating, and procurement/contract management. The Senior Manager will set team priorities and ensure projects align with approved Business Case Summaries, Project Charter, and Project Management Plans.
*KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES*
Project Management Leadership: Develop and enforce industry-standard project management practices across scope, schedule, cost, risk, and communication.
Lifecycle Planning & Execution: Define project scope, work breakdown structures, and manage Project Management Plans, business cases, and project closeout activities.
Risk & Change Control: Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and manage change control processes for scope, schedule, and budget.
Governance & Gate Reviews: Prepare and present gate packages, ensuring compliance and securing approvals for milestones and funding.
Performance Monitoring: Track progress using earned value, forecasting, and performance metrics for informed decision-making.
Financial Oversight: Develop estimates, monitor costs, maintain budgets, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with teams, sponsors, and external stakeholders to align goals and expectations.
Contract & Procurement Management: Oversee procurement, bid evaluations, contractor oversight, and contract compliance.
Field & Quality Management: Ensure quality assurance, field engineering, and commissioning meet standards.
Team & Portfolio Leadership: Lead Project Managers, promote collaboration and safety, and oversee project portfolios for strategic alignment.
QUALIFICATIONS
University degree or equivalent in engineering, construction, manufacturing, or related field. PMP is an asset.
7+ years’ experience in Nuclear, Project Management, or related fields.
5+ years’ leadership experience.
Experience with nuclear generating plants, equipment, and processes is an asset.
Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
