Job Summary
This Senior Manager role focuses on identifying and measuring organizational, physical, and financial risks. You will implement programs and processes to minimize these risks, ensure effective internal controls, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. You will advise senior management to help them anticipate and manage operational risks effectively, ensure the adequacy of the control environment within Personal Banking, and help design controls to mitigate risks. This role holds the first line of defense responsibility for operational risk, supporting the Personal Banking Business Unit in risk mitigation.
What will you do?
- Ensure compliance with operational risk policies, standards, and procedures alongside the Director, Operational Risk.
- Maintain relationships with risk, governance, and control teams across all defense lines; review and act on issues and trends from reports.
- Support compliance with Enterprise Operational Risk Standards and policies.
- Identify control weaknesses, support the development of action plans, and improve controls and documentation.
- Participate in end-to-end product risk assessments.
- Provide guidance on change risk assessments for projects, identify control optimization opportunities, and evaluate risk impact.
- Implement and execute Operational Risk programs, including event analysis, issue management, and risk assessments.
- Analyze external events, collaborate with the business to identify similar exposures, assess impacts, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Review internal risk events, evaluate process failures, and set action plans.
- Identify opportunities for process risk assessments and control self-assessments (RCSA).
- Use knowledge of business strategies and policies to identify key risk exposures and assess their impact.
- Coordinate targeted operational risk assessments with relevant groups.
- Support management in developing and challenging action plans for operational and regulatory issues.
What you need to succeed?
Must-have:
- Strong understanding and experience in Operational Risk Management.
- 5+ years in financial services implementing risk practices.
- Knowledge of Personal Banking operations; experience in Operations is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze data and provide insights.
- Experience in complex, matrix environments managing diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to build partnerships, adapt, and develop relationships in a hybrid environment.
Nice-to-have:
- University degree or equivalent.
- Experience in Project Management or Consulting.
