Reporting to the Director, Finance; Reporting and Analysis, this position provides support to French and English revenue development budget owners, including leading the budget/forecast process, preparing variance analysis to management, monitoring and analyzing key financial metrics, and supporting financial modelling and other strategic initiatives.

This position is a key member of the Finance Team and liaises closely with other Senior Managers on budgeting, reporting, and projects.

This position oversees one financial analyst for fundraising budget support and one accountant.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leads annual budgeting and periodic forecasting process for revenue development team and ensures accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Provides proactive financial support to the budget owners related to fundraising events, financial reporting, and forecasting for the fundraising team
  • Ensure that relevant policies and processes are communicated to fundraising teams
  • Performs variance analysis for monthly reports and annual budget to management
  • Proactively communicates new finance policies and procedures to budget holders and staff
  • Monitors and analyzes key financial metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Supports the financial modelling and other strategic initiatives

Provide support to business process improvement

  • Works with management and staff to develop and implement policies and process improvements such as, but not limited to processes for designated donations, business rules for gift in kind
  • Leads other improvement and automation projects related to areas of responsibility
  • Works closely with Senior Manager, Accounts Receivable on interdependent processes as it relates to revenue processes such as new revenue platforms, credit card payments, revenue coding, etc.

Other Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages the finance team, providing mentorship and development opportunities by aligning the team’s talent and skills, review and clarify tasks and responsibilities for direct reports, create a cohesive team environment
  • Act as the finance lead in our Montreal office and hold regular meetings with the Finance Team located out of Montreal
  • Reviews and clearly defines tasks and responsibilities, sets up clear expectations and ensures resource allocation is in line with team and organizational priorities
  • Review the translated finance documents and all finance training and other meetings
  • Participate in Quebec all employee meeting and present financials as needed
  • Foster a high-performance culture that leverages the talents and strengths of each member while encouraging growth and development.
  • Champion CCS as a hero in the face of cancer.

Qualifications

  • Bilingualism (French/English) is required due to the organization’s nationwide operations and the need for effective communication across various regions
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, NetSuite, and PBCS
  • Post-secondary education such as acquiring a university degree in a relevant discipline. Professional designation is required
  • Demonstrated communication skills and networking abilities with internal and external contacts
  • People Leadership experience is an asset
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to summarize and share information to teams in a cohesive manner
  • High degree of initiative, ability to solve problems and improve processes
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent customer service, commitment to meeting deadlines, ability to prioritize, and attention to detail
  • Adaptability and flexibility to respond to demands of changing priority levels throughout the day
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to lead a team both in-person and remotely ensuring overall team engagement
  • Experience working in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles; communicate with technical and non-technical users
