SYSTRA Canada is seeking an Environmental Design & Approvals Manager to lead environmental review, scope planning, and due diligence for transit projects in Ontario. You will coordinate with design teams, regulators, and construction to ensure compliance and integrated environmental outcomes.

Ideal candidates bring 8–10 years of relevant experience, knowledge of Ontario EA processes, and depth in environmental management systems. P.Eng, PMP or related credentials are assets.

Competenze

• 8–10 years of work experience on projects of similar size, scope and complexity.
• Knowledge of Ontario Transit Rail Project Assessment Process, GO Transit Class EA, and Environmental Assessment Act (Ontario).
• Experience managing all environmental aspects of transit projects in Ontario.
• ISO 14001 environmental management systems experience (asset).
• P.Eng, PMP, RPP, MCP, RPBio considered an asset.

Context

We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates for the position of Environmental Design & Approvals Manager.

Missions/Main Duties

• Completes the review of previously completed investigations and reporting.
• Identify data gaps and commitments and Oversees development of the Investigation scope and schedule.
• Lead the subject matter expert team tasked to complete Due Diligence work and reporting.
• Incorporation of requirements into design.
• Confirmation that requirements and commitments are executed.
• Leads environmental design integration across all technical disciplines for the project corridor.
• Oversees environmental approvals strategy and ensures compliance with EA commitments, permits, and regulatory conditions.
• Coordinates with design teams, construction leads, and regulators to resolve environmental risks.
• Responsible for environmental deliverables (including EMPs), schedules, and multidisciplinary coordination

Profile/Skills

• 8 - 10 years of work-related experience on projects of similar size, scope, and complexity to the Project;

• a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in planning, environmental planning, geography, environmental engineering or another related discipline;

• knowledge of the Province of Ontario’s Transit Rail Project Assessment Process, GO Transit Class EA Document, and Environmental Assessment Act (Ontario);

• experience in successfully managing all Environmental Aspects of transit projects in the Province of Ontario;

• knowledge of relevant federal and Ontario environmental policies, procedures and legislation experience with implementation and management of environmental management systems that conform to ISO 14001;

• Experience liaising with other specialty consultants, contractors and Governmental Authorities; and

  experience with similar projects in the Province of Ontario.
