The Opportunity & Role Overview:

The Senior Manager, Enterprise Application Services is a critical leadership role responsible for setting the strategic direction, overseeing day-to-day operations, and ensuring the excellence of our enterprise application portfolio. This position offers the opportunity to influence and drive technology solutions that support business innovation, enhance operational efficiency, and enable long-term organizational growth.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Technology Services, the Senior Manager provides leadership, strategic oversight, and operational expertise across all areas of enterprise applications — including requirements gathering, development, release management, and ongoing maintenance. The role ensures that all enterprise applications adhere to industry best practices and align with organizational priorities.

In addition to technical leadership, the Senior Manager is responsible for leading and developing a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. This role works closely with cross-functional business areas, technology partners, and senior stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable, and business-focused application services.

The successful candidate will be based in Vancouver, BC.

Key Responsibilities:


  • People leadership: Lead and manage the IT application team, ensuring the effective maintenance, support and release management of all enterprise applications
  • IT Change and Release Management: Oversee the release management process, including planning, scheduling, and coordination of software releases, updates, and patches in compliance with our change advisory governance.
  • Application Development: Establish processes, automation and capabilities from requirements gathering, through development to release including:
    • Continuous Integration: Automated testing, build, and version control
    • Continuous Delivery: Automated Deployment, Release management & Configuration
    • Deployment/ Production Control: from promotion to deployment.
    • Testing and Quality Assurance (QA)
  • Application Operations: Develop and implement strategies for application maintenance, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.
    • Monitoring and support: establish monitoring protocols to ensure applications are running smoothly and efficiently.
    • Incident management: Implement ITIL incident management practices to quickly resolve related incidents.
    • Problem management: Conduct root-cause analysis for re-occurring issues and implement solutions to prevent future current.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service-level agreements (SLAs) related to application maintenance and releases.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Responsible for working closely with business partners to broker and orchestrate end-to-end activities associated with application maintenance and business continuity.
  • Strong vendor management to effectively hold third-party solution providers to SLAs and performance.
  • Fiscal Responsibility
    • Contribute to the development and management of the application services budget.
    • Identify and leverage opportunities to optimize costs and value for applications and services, throughout their life cycle.


What You’ll Bring:

Formal Education & Certification:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computing science, Computer Systems Engineering, or Software Engineering
  • ITIL certification.
  • Comfortable with commonly used DevOps tools like: Github , Microsoft DevOps, Jira/Confluence, GitLab, Kubernetes, etc ,
  • Certified Scrum Master, Agile Certified Practitioner or similar certification would be an asset.
  • PMP certification is an asset.


Knowledge & Experience


  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in IT application management with at least 10 years of direct leadership / management experience, leading technical support and development teams.
  • Strong background in application maintenance, release management and other leading practices associated with the Development and Operations (“DevOps”) life cycle.
  • Provenknowledge of the principles, concepts, practices, and technologies of Agile/DevOps.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and technical knowledge of software development lifecycle, cloud architecture and distributed systems.
  • Experience defining systems architectures and exploring technical feasibility trade - offs.
  • Proven experience overseeing the direction, development, implementation, and support of applications and services.
  • Advanced people skills, including relationship building, advising, consulting, influencing, conflict resolution, and presentation/facilitation skills.
  • Proven service management experience for organizations with a 1 ,0 00+ user base.
  • Advanced communication skills to communicate technical concepts to nontechnical people to enhance understanding and drive decisions that lead to positive outcomes .
  • Strong presentation and financial analysis
  • Experience with organizational change management is considered an asset.


What Can We Offer You?

Salary Range: $140,000-$165,000 per Annum .McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
