Job summary

CIBC is seeking a Senior Manager Electronic Communications Oversight to lead a team, uphold regulatory and ethical standards, and oversee electronic communications across PBB and Wealth. The role emphasizes leadership, coaching, and building strong internal partnerships.

You will drive continuous improvement, manage resources, and ensure compliant client engagement while operating in a hybrid work model with on-site and remote days. Fluency in English is required; French is an asset.

Qualifications

  • Certified professional with CIRO Supervisory Licensing accreditation.
  • Experience leading compliant teams in financial services.
  • Experience in compliance oversight, regulatory supervision, risk management, and stakeholder management.
  • Experience supporting electronic communications review programs in wealth management or securities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and training to a team of Electronic Communications Review Officers.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls.
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders and manage service levels and priorities.
  • Oversee budget, staffing, and performance management for direct reports.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and drive continuous improvement in methodologies and controls.

What You'll Be Doing

As the Senior Manager Electronic Communications Oversight, you will be reporting to the Director, Electronic Communications Oversight and providing leadership, coaching and specialized knowledge to a team of Electronic Communications Review Officers. You will also be responsible for supervision and oversight activities as it relates to electronic communications across PBB and Wealth. In this role, you will be helping to ensure that the management of client business is within the bounds of both regulatory and ethical conduct, consistent with just and equitable principles of trade and it is not detrimental to the interests of the securities industry or CIBC.

How You'll Succeed
  • Leadership - Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and training to a team of Electronic Communications Review Officers. Build team capability, support professional development, and create an inclusive, high-performing environment where employees understand priorities, expectations, and how their work contributes to broader business goals. Managing performance by providing fair and accurate formal and informal feedback, identifying and removing obstacles to performance and by explaining how performance expectations align with business priorities;
  • Strengthen compliance oversight – Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect.
  • Deliver trusted partnership - Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders by ensuring client groups understand the team’s mandate, roles, and responsibilities. Champion a service-oriented approach that balances business needs with sound risk management and consistent oversight practices.
  • Manage performance and resources - Ensure the team is appropriately resourced to meet business objectives and service level commitments. Manage budget and staffing needs, support hiring decisions, and oversee performance management activities including goal setting, feedback, and development planning for direct reports.
  • Drive continuous improvement - Monitor the external environment for regulatory developments, industry trends, and evolving practices that may impact team effectiveness. Identify opportunities to improve methodologies, tools, processes, and controls, and work with external partners and suppliers to support compliance with regulatory requirements and CIBC expectations.
