Job summary

PwC Canada is seeking a Senior Manager, Compensation within the Total Rewards team. You will lead development, implementation and evolution of compensation programs, frameworks and processes that support our people strategy and business objectives, reporting to the Director, Total Rewards.

Qualifications

  • Progressive experience in compensation, total rewards or HR with broad-based compensation expertise.
  • Experience leading compensation program design, job architecture, salary structures and annual cycles.
  • Strong advisory skills with senior leaders on policy interpretation and equity decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the firm's primary compensation SME and provide guidance on strategy and market trends.
  • Lead design and governance of compensation frameworks, including job architecture and salary structures.
  • Influence decisions with market insights, analytics, and data-driven recommendations.
  • Oversee annual compensation cycles, including merit and bonus planning with key stakeholders.
  • Manage compensation analytics, market benchmarking, surveys, and workforce modelling.
  • Advise Human Capital leaders on complex compensation matters and internal equity.
  • Lead compensation compliance related to pay equity and pay transparency.
  • Monitor regulatory developments to modernize programs.
  • Prepare data-driven insights and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Manage relationships with external consultants and vendors.
  • Coach and develop compensation team members; drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead or support strategic compensation initiatives and technology projects.

Job Description & Summary

As a Senior Manager, Compensation within the Total Rewards team, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues and shape the future of compensation at PwC Canada. Reporting to the Director, Total Rewards, you'll serve as the firm's compensation subject matter expert and lead the development, implementation and evolution of compensation programs, frameworks and processes that support our people strategy and business objectives.

This role combines deep technical compensation expertise with strategic thinking, strong business acumen and stakeholder influence. You'll partner closely with Human Capital leaders, business leaders and key stakeholders to provide trusted advice, drive enterprise-wide compensation initiatives, and ensure compensation programs remain competitive, equitable, scalable and compliant in a rapidly evolving workforce and regulatory landscape.

  • Serving as the firm's primary compensation subject matter expert, providing guidance and thought leadership on compensation strategy, program design, market competitiveness and emerging trends
  • Leading the design, governance and continuous evolution of compensation frameworks, including job architecture, job evaluation methodologies, salary structures, market positioning approaches, and compensation policies
  • Influencing compensation decisions and future program direction through market insights, compensation analytics, data-driven recommendations, and deep technical expertise
  • Leading the annual compensation cycle, including merit, bonus and compensation planning activities, in partnership with Human Capital, Finance, Payroll and business stakeholders
  • Overseeing compensation analytics, market benchmarking, compensation surveys, trend analysis and workforce modelling to support leadership decision-making and workforce planning
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to Human Capital leaders and business stakeholders on complex compensation matters, including pay decisions, organizational changes, market competitiveness and internal equity considerations
  • Leading compensation compliance activities related to pay equity, pay transparency and other applicable provincial and federal regulatory requirements
  • Monitoring legislative developments, workforce trends and market practices to identify opportunities to strengthen and modernize compensation programs and processes
  • Preparing and delivering clear, data-driven insights, recommendations and presentations for senior leadership and key stakeholders
  • Managing relationships with external compensation consultants, survey providers and technology vendors to maximize value and support strategic priorities
  • Leading, coaching and developing compensation team members while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement
  • Leading or supporting strategic compensation initiatives, including technology enhancements, regulatory projects, process redesign and business transformation activities

  • P rogressive experience in compensation, total rewards or human resources, with deep expertise in broad-based compensation
  • Proven experience leading compensation program design, job architecture, salary structure development, market benchmarking and annual compensation cycles
  • Demonstrated experience advising senior leaders and stakeholders on compensation strategy, policy interpretation and complex compensation decisions
  • Experience designing, administering or advising on incentive compensation programs
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian compensation-related legislation and regulatory requirements, including pay equity and pay transparency
  • Advanced analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends and translate findings into practical business recommendations
  • Experience working with compensation technology and HR systems, including Workday Compensation and Advanced Compensation
  • Strong communication , presentation and consulting skills, with the ability to simplify complex compensation concepts for diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to build credibility, trust and influence with senior stakeholders through expertise , insight and strong relationship management
  • Strong judgement and the ability to balance market competitiveness, internal equity, employee experience, operational considerations and compliance requirements
