Job summary

Major League Soccer is seeking a Manager for its Business Insights & Analytics team, responsible for overseeing reporting and analytics across fan engagement touchpoints. Job description

Major League Soccer’s Business Insights & Analytics is a centralized analytics function, supporting the league by aligning long and short-term strategy with data and providing impactful data driven insights, analysis, and recommendations.

The group is seeking a Manager who will develop and oversee reporting and analytics across MLS Fan Engagement touchpoints including Ticketing, Consumer Products, and Digital Channels, as well as overseeing Club Reporting. This individual will be highly curious, motivated, and analytical, while also able to distill clarity from complexity, with an entrepreneurial desire to innovate.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end ownership of reporting and analytics that visualize data to meet the needs of both internal and external stakeholders and derive insights aligned to the enterprise Fan Engagement strategy.
  • Leverage advanced data analytics and statistics to answer complex business questions, and provide business impacting insights and recommendations that help shape future strategic decision making.
  • Effectively communicate and socialize actionable results and findings throughout the organization in a simple and intuitive narrative format.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with senior team members as a thought leader to align Enterprise and Department goals to data and metrics.
  • Introduce efficiencies into data and reporting strategies that automate manual data processes.
  • Partner with technology team to continually integrate the tools, methods, and processes supporting analysis.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Math, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or similar domain required.
  • 7+ years of experience, with 5+ years in a quantitative analysis rolefor both internal and external stakeholders required.
  • Experience with enterprise level reporting and ad hoc analyses to drive large, complex, cross-functional reporting that aligns to enterprise strategy.
  • Adept Technical / Functional experience in Excel, BI Tool(s), and SQL.

Required Skills

  • Background in analytics with a focus on marketing, digital media, and / or TV analytics and research, preferably in live sports.
  • Proven track record of deriving insights from large data sources and presenting in a clear and concise narrative form.
  • Adept in a query language (SQL), in a BI tool (Power BI, Tableau), Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with a programming language (R, Python)
  • Experience with statistical data analysis
  • High-level of commitment to a quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance
  • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally
  • Demonstrated decision making and solutions oriented

Desired Skills

  • Experience with Exploratory Data Analysis
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Major League Soccer offers a competitive starting base salary of $110,000 - $135,000, based on individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
