Job summary

RBC is seeking a Senior Manager, AML Risk Analytics in Toronto to bridge risk strategy, transaction monitoring and investigative operations. You will lead analytical investigations, develop governance with stakeholders and deploy advanced analytics to identify evolving financial crime threats.

This role emphasizes both quantitative data analytics and qualitative investigative methods, with a focus on building organizational capability.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years across 3+ financial crime typologies (e.g., TBML, sanctions evasion, drug trafficking)
  • 5-7 years combined experience in investigation and data analytics with at least 2 years in each domain
  • Strong SQL, Python and Excel skills; ability to communicate complex concepts clearly

Responsibilities

  • Integrate threat analytics with Risk Strategy and Transaction Monitoring, and lead governance with stakeholders
  • Deliver proactive investigative leads and conduct deep dives on threat topics with timely, actionable intelligence

Job Description
What is the opportunity?

The Senior manager, AML Risk Analytics is a transformational role that bridges risk strategy, transaction monitoring, and investigative operations, ensuring effective financial crime assessment and detection. This role requires expertise in both quantitative data analytics and qualitative investigative methodologies to identify, analyze and mitigate financial crimes threats in an evolving and increasingly complex threat landscape, while building organizational capabilities.

What will you do?
  • Integrate threat analytics with the Risk Strategy and Transaction Monitoring Program, establishing governance frameworks and leading strategic partnerships with stakeholders
  • Deliver proactive investigative leads and conduct analytical deep-dives on targeted threat topics, ensuring intelligence is timely and actionable while maintaining expertise in evolving financial crime methodologies
  • Direct the deployment of advanced data analytics techniques to identify patterns and emerging threats, while overseeing data exploration initiatives and establishing metrics to assess effectiveness
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance team operational effectiveness through analytics integration, analytics methodologies, and process optimization.
  • Craft and disseminate intelligence and threat assessments that drive action across the organization including risk awareness, transaction monitoring enhancements, and policy refinements
  • Mentor and develop analytical talent to build organizational capability through best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation
What do you need to succeed?
Must have
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience and expertise in 3 or more financial crimes typologies (TBML, Drug trafficking, Sanction Evasions etc.), 3 or more business domains (Retail, Wealth, Correspondent banking, Trade Finance and Capital Markets) and payment channels
  • 5-7 years combined experience across investigation and data analytics, with minimum 2 years in each domain
  • Strong knowledge in SQL, Python and Excel
  • Proven excellent written and oral communication skills to convey complex concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Proven problem solving skills

  • Bsc
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation or other related certifications
