We are currently seeking a Senior Manager, Accounting & Tax to join our Financial Planning Department.

The Senior Manager, Accounting & Tax will lead accounting, financial reporting, and taxation activities, ensuring compliance with regulations. The role requires excellent communication skills, tax and statutory compliance, and experience with regulatory reporting, financial statement preparation, and audits.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accounting
  • Lead and oversee the accounting function.
  • Manage internal controls for the Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss statements.
  • Review and amend unaudited annual financial statements.
  • Coordinate the annual audit process, including liaising with external auditors.
  • Provide timely, accurate IFRS-based accounting advice to departments and branches.
  • Develop procedures for emerging accounting issues or new business opportunities.
  • Review and update accounting policies and procedures; manage the general ledger and chart of accounts.
  • Apply proper accounting principles with a strong understanding of IFRS.
  • Review Expected Credit Loss reports and advise on accounting issues.
  • Lead external audit activities.
  1. Taxation
  • Lead the preparation of tax reports for management.
  • Review all tax returns, including corporate income tax, indirect taxes, Non-Resident Tax, and PST.
  • Identify factors that could lead to tax risks.
  • Supervise timely and accurate execution of installment payments.
  • Oversee year-end tax provisions and deferred tax processes.
  • Supervise month-end tax provisions.
  • Coordinate foreign tax credit reports with the parent bank and affiliates.
  • Track and update tax treaties between Canada and other countries.
  • Lead monthly financial reporting and performance reports.
  • Prepare disclosure packages for financial statements and reports for Board and Shareholders meetings.
  1. Regulatory Reporting
  • Review regulatory reports to OSFI, Bank of Canada, and Statistics Canada.
  • Support ICCAP and other regulatory submissions.
  • Maintain internal controls for risk asset reporting.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
  1. Public Disclosure
  • Prepare public disclosure materials per OSFI requirements.
  • Ensure disclosure documents comply with regulatory updates.
  • Maintain public disclosure guidelines.
  1. Finance
  • Participate in annual business planning and strategic initiatives.
  • Support finance functions as needed.
  1. Other
  • Perform ad hoc duties assigned by the CFO.
  • Continuously improve work processes.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, or related field (preferred).
  • CPA designation is required.
  • Experience in Canadian banking industry is required.
  • Minimum 5 years in accounting or taxation.
  • At least 3 years in people management.
  • Over 1 year of regulatory reporting to OSFI.
  • Experience with IRRBB is an asset.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting and banking operations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Korean language skills are an asset.
