THE OPPORTUNITY
The Senior Manager Accounting and Financial Reporting is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, managing the consolidation of financial results, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This position will play a key role in the monthly close process, financial audits, and process improvement initiatives.
Team Management
- Coach and mentor the accounting team in Montreal, fostering a high-performance environment.
- Empower team members to deliver high quality work through process alignment, feedback, and development.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
- Oversee daily general ledger operations, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Oversee the accounts receivable and payroll functions.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis prepared by the accounting team on a monthly basis.
- Support the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors.
Consolidation And Financial Reporting
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation of financial results from multiple entities and currencies, ensuring all financial reporting is accurate, complete, and compliant with US GAAP.
- Ensure proper elimination of intercompany transactions and reconcile intercompany balances.
- Ensure the integrity of chart of accounts mapping between local and group levels, maintaining consistency and accuracy in hierarchies and internal reports.
Payroll & Treasury Support
- Participate in cash planning and treasury management activities.
- Oversee the payroll function and act as the key point of contact for the external payroll provider, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, compliance with tax laws, and proper accounting treatment.
Internal Controls, Systems, And Processes
- Partner with the Corporate Controller to implement process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives.
What You Will Need To Succeed
- A CPA License required.
- 10+ years’ experience in accounting or finance required.
- Industry experience in manufacturing considered an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS.
- Experience using an ERP, SyteLine, an asset.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
- Solution-oriented, positive and can-do attitude a must.
- High level of integrity with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative approach.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
