Job summary

The Workers' Compensation Board - Alberta is seeking a Senior Management Auditor to join our Management Audit Services. Reporting to the Chief Internal Auditor, you will contribute to independent assurance audits and advisory engagements that strengthen governance, risk management and internal controls across the organization.

You will work with stakeholders at all levels to understand programs, assess risks, and provide practical, value-added recommendations.

Qualifications

• University degree or diploma in business, accounting, finance, computer science, social sciences or related disciplines.
• Minimum three years of progressive experience in internal audit, external audit, risk management, compliance, financial oversight, digital transformation or related field.
• Experience planning and leading complex audits and advisory engagements in accordance with internal audit professional standards.
• Strong understanding of governance, risk management, internal controls and audit methodology.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to interpret information and support evidence-based decision-making.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly, facilitate discussions and build relationships.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and collaboratively, and exercise discretion in complex matters.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills and aptitude to learn audit software.
• Demonstrates commitment to continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of WCB-Alberta's structure and processes to assess risk and formulate practical recommendations.
• Plan and complete audit and advisory engagements from the MAS Internal Audit Plan with a risk-focused approach.
• Build competencies in internal audit methodologies, risk management, internal controls, project management, and data-informed analysis.
• Collaborate with WCB-Alberta business areas to build relationships and communicate observations and recommendations clearly.
• Work with internal and external professionals, including the Office of the Auditor General of Alberta, to support coordinated assurance activities.
• Support the Chief Internal Auditor and MAS team to address requests from Senior Management and the Audit Committee.
