Job summary

The Wickaninnish Inn, a Relais & Châteaux property on Vancouver Island's West Coast, invites applications for a Senior Maintenance Technician to uphold high guest service and operate across guestrooms and public areas.

You will tackle painting, carpentry, HVAC basics, landscaping and preventative maintenance, with outdoor work in all weather, evenings and weekends as needed. A commitment to sustainability and exceptional hospitality is essential.

Qualifications

• Exemplary customer service skills and a willingness to exceed guest expectations are the minimum; commitment to hospitality excellence.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
• A valid BC Class 5 Driver's License with at least two years of clean driving experience.
• Professional and groomed appearance.
• Calm and capable demeanor.
• Positive and proactive approach; able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs and work in indoor/outdoor settings.
• Familiarity with HVAC including electrical circuitry; power tools experience required.
• First Aid and Forklift/aerial work platform certifications are assets.
• Red Seal or Trade Certification in Refrigeration, Gas Fitting, or Electrical are assets.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and Excel/FileMaker Pro is an asset.
• Willingness to commit to the role for an agreed period.

Responsibilities

• Ensure guest service meets and exceeds Relais & Châteaux and AAA Diamond standards.
• Follow the Inn's service promise and core philosophies.
• Maintain daily upkeep of guestrooms and public spaces.
• Oversee landscaping and general grounds work.
• Handle painting, carpentry and equipment maintenance projects.
• Participate in interior and exterior building maintenance.
• Support a preventive maintenance schedule.
• Manage equipment including bicycle fleet maintenance.
• Restore and repair furniture as needed.
• Work outdoors on a variety of tasks.
