Job summary

Atria Retirement Canada is seeking a driver to provide safe, courteous transportation for residents at our Whitby community. You will drive residents to social events and other activities, ensuring safety and comfort in all trips.

Position requires five or more years of driving experience, knowledge of vehicle preventative maintenance, and a Commercial Driver's License. You will operate 7- to 16-passenger vehicles and support Engage Life and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or 1–3 months of related experience and/or training.
• Five or more years of driving experience and knowledge of vehicle preventative maintenance programs.
• Commercial driver's license required to operate commercial size vehicles.
• Ability to operate a seven to sixteen passenger bus, or a limousine or car.
• Experience with vehicle emergency repairs and basic tire changes.

Responsibilities

• Drive vehicle from community to social and other destinations according to schedule.
• Assist residents into and out of vehicle in a safe manner.
• Secure passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
• Practice safe driving techniques at all times.
• Clean and service vehicle with fuel and lubricants; report maintenance repairs.
• Maintain records of daily and weekly trip inspections and vehicle maintenance.
