Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Recreation Aide for Aspira Peninsula Retirement Living in Surrey, BC. This permanent casual (on-call) role supports engaging activities and a welcoming environment for residents, with a 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM shift when needed.

You’ll help manage events, activities, and wellness programs designed to enhance daily life for seniors. Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada, pass background checks, and obtain required certifications.

Qualifications

• Degree/diploma in Gerontology, Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Studies, Health Promotion, or Health Sciences
• Experience working with seniors, including understanding motivational concepts with seniors and health, wellbeing and leisure principles
• Class 4 Driver's License is an asset
• Current CPR and First Aid certification
• Serving It Right certification (or willingness to obtain within 60 days)
• Ability to meet physical demands (lifting, moving residents, etc.)
• Proficiency in Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Excel; familiarity with Zoom/Skype/FaceTime

Responsibilities

• Track participation and engagement data per organization guidelines
• Maintain leisure profiles on new residents within 14 days of move-in
• Maintain updates to daily events, posters, and leisure bulletin boards
• Assist in completing and distributing the monthly event calendar
• Respond to emails within 24–48 hours or on the next scheduled shift
• Ensure IPAC and infection control protocols are adhered to
• Maintain leisure areas and equipment for a positive, tour-ready experience
• Work cooperatively with volunteers, students and community groups
• Promote the health and happiness of seniors through lifestyle wellness experiences
