Job summary

AgeCare Riverview in Medicine Hat is seeking an Environmental Services Assistant to perform routine repairs and minor maintenance on building systems while delivering excellent resident care. You will inspect facilities and report safety findings, follow safety protocols, and assist with painting, carpentry, and grounds maintenance as needed.

This role requires English communication, independence, physical fitness, and a valid Vulnerable Sector Check.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Experience with minor repairs to facilities and equipment.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, heating, water, gas, mechanical systems, plastering, and painting.
• Ability to manage and track budgets, including recording work completed and costs.
• Knowledge of health and safety practices.
• Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine repairs and minor maintenance on building systems.
• Complete painting, minor carpentry, and exterior grounds maintenance.
• Conduct regular inspections and report safety findings to supervisor.
• Follow facility policies, safety protocols, and safe work practices.
• Fulfill housekeeping and maintenance duties as required.
• Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adult residents.
• Uphold the organization’s values of ethics, integrity, and professionalism.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
