Job summary

Spring Living Retirement Communities is seeking a Director of Environmental Services (Fergus Place) to safeguard the physical condition of our retirement community and align with Spring Living brand and budget.

You will lead environmental and housekeeping staff, establish preventive maintenance schedules, manage department and capital budgets, and contribute to resident satisfaction through a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment.

Qualifications

• Must have or be enrolled in a certified Facility Management program or trades license.
• Completion of, or enrollment in the PAC program.
• Knowledge of building systems including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and emergency systems.
• Experience managing and leading a team is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Inspect all work areas and essential equipment to ensure safety standards are maintained, clean and sanitary.
• Know how to use and monitor building automation systems, fire safety equipment, call boxes and emergency shutoffs.
• Establish and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for required equipment.
• Promote culture and practices involved in environmental sustainability.
• Maintain the facilities and grounds in showroom condition at all times.
• Select, train, develop, engage and manage performance of Environmental and Housekeeping staff.
• Manage department budget and support the community capital budget process.
• Contribute as part of the residence leadership team to maximize resident satisfaction.
• Manage the room refresh process to achieve cost effectiveness and occupancy targets.
• Manage external vendor contracts with respect to service and cost.
• Uphold and promote the organization’s values and Code of Conduct.
• Complete all other tasks as assigned.
