We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel, Real Estate. The candidate may be based in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, or Quebec City.

The role

Supporting the Director of Legal Affairs, Development, you will provide strategic legal guidance on real estate acquisition and project-related matters to help Alto achieve its mission.

The Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teams on real estate acquisitions and advise on related legal matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements with municipalities, utilities, and stakeholders.
• Manage legal aspects of assigned files and coordinate with legal advisors of partners and government entities.
• Advise on project legal risks, obligations, and mitigation strategies.
• Address complex real estate issues, leveraging stakeholder engagement experience.
• Streamline the acquisition process across Quebec and Ontario to meet project schedules.

The Requirements

• Law degree and membership in good standing with the Quebec or Ontario Bar.
• 8-10 years of relevant experience, including real estate law.
• Exceptional rigor, interpersonal skills, negotiation, and drafting abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively communicate in a bilingual environment (French and English).
