Role Responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation of the Privacy & Data Protection program and governance strategy, aligned with company operations and global legislation.
  • Provide legal expertise on privacy-related matters.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with the Privacy & Data Protection program, policies, and applicable laws.
  • Develop and deliver training on Privacy & Data Protection for internal teams.
  • Review documentation such as data processing agreements, privacy notices, and policies to ensure compliance.
  • Manage privacy incidents, breaches, audits, investigations, and liaise with data protection authorities as needed.
  • Handle data subjects’ rights requests and maintain records of processing activities.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments and other risk assessments.
  • Manage special projects related to privacy as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Over 5 years of experience in a similar legal or privacy role, in-house or at a reputable law firm.
  • Law Degree and membership in the Quebec or Ontario Bar, or a related discipline with relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of global privacy laws, including Quebec, U.S., and GDPR.
  • Certification such as CIPP or similar from IAPP or equivalent, or willingness to pursue such certification.
  • Experience with privacy breach responses, impact assessments, and data processing agreement reviews.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legal requirements practically.
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English.
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with IT tools like Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally if required.
