Job summary

WorkSafeBC is seeking a Senior Legal Administrative Assistant to provide senior-level administrative and legal support to lawyers managing a diverse portfolio of litigation, advisory, and corporate matters. Qualifications

  • A post-secondary degree is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a legal administrative support role within litigation.
  • Paralegal diploma is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools in a legal environment and familiarity with electronic legal file management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior lawyers on complex and confidential litigation files from initiation through closure, ensuring records are filed and maintained per procedures.
  • Prepare a wide variety of legal documents for trials, judicial reviews, and hearings per court rules.
  • Coordinate examinations for discovery, trials, hearings, mediations, and meetings with stakeholders.
  • Draft and proofread legal correspondence, court materials, and documentation with high accuracy.
  • Act as a key contact for legal inquiries and direct matters to appropriate resources.
  • Maintain lawyer mailboxes and coordinate meetings and departmental activities.

We have an opportunity for a Senior Legal Administrative Assistant to join a team of seasoned lawyers.

In this role, you'll provide senior-level administrative and legal support to lawyers managing a diverse portfolio of litigation, advisory, and corporate legal matters. You'll play a critical part in ensuring legal files are accurately managed, court deadlines are met, and confidential matters are handled with the highest level of professionalism and discretion.

What you’ll do
  • Support senior lawyers on managing complex and confidential litigation files from initiation through closure, ensuring records are correctly filed and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepares a wide variety of legal documents with respect to trials, judicial reviews, and other hearings in accordance with the procedures and rules of the Supreme Court of B.C., B.C. Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of Canada, Provincial Court of B.C., Human Rights Tribunal, and professional regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinates examinations for discovery, trials, hearings, mediations, and meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Draft and proofread a wide variety of legal correspondence, court materials, and other documentation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Act as a key point of contact for legal inquiries, including gathering information, responding to routine requests, and directing matters to the appropriate legal resource.
  • Maintain lawyer mailboxes and coordinate meetings, events, and departmental activities.

Your background and experience
  • A post-secondary degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a legal administrative support capacity within litigation practices
  • A paralegal diploma is an asset
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office tools in a legal environment and familiarity with electronic legal file management systems.
