Job summary

The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) is seeking a policy and people programs lead to shape a positive, inclusive employee experience. In partnership with People & Culture, you will translate strategy and EDIA commitments into practical policies and programs that enable modern and flexible ways of working.

The role leads policy and program review through a consultative approach to ensure equity and transparency.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a field providing foundational knowledge in organizational systems, policy development, and people practices.
  • 4-5 years of progressive experience in policy development, organizational development, people programs, or related work within a complex organization.
  • Experience applying an equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility lens to policy, program, or process design.
  • Experience collaborating across functions to design or improve people related processes, policies, or systems.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and people policy/procedure development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the stewardship of staff policies, procedures, and related people programs.
  • Design and advance EDIA integration across policies and programs.
  • Map and optimize end-to-end people processes for efficiency and equity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align policies with digital tools and systems.

Job Summary

This role leads the research, development, and stewardship of staff policies and people programs that support a positive and inclusive employee experience. Working in partnership with People & Culture colleagues, the role translates organizational strategy, values, and EDIA commitments into clear, practical policies, processes, and programs that enable modern and flexible ways of working. The role leads policy and program review through a strong consultative approach to support the research, design and drafting of policies and programs for approval that are equitable, accessible, and well understood, contributing to a strong organizational culture grounded in fairness, transparency, and trust.

How You Will Make a Difference
Policy Stewardship
  • Lead the stewardship of staff policies, procedures, and related people programs to ensure they are clear, current, legally sound, easily accessible and readily available, and aligned with organizational strategy, values, and People & Culture priorities.
Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Accessibility (EDIA)
  • Design and advance the integration of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility across policies, procedures, and people programs to support equitable and inclusive employee experiences.
  • Guide and support the execution of initiatives and deliverables aligned with the organization’s EDIA strategy, ensuring policy and program design reflects EDIA commitments in practice.
  • Engage with equity seeking groups, ERGs, and stakeholders, as appropriate, to inform policy and program development and identify potential barriers or unintended impacts.
Process Optimization
  • Research, review, and draft people-related policies, procedures, and processes for approval, using a consultative approach to ensure clarity, consistency, and practical application across the employee lifecycle.
  • Map people related processes cross functionally to identify gaps, risks, duplication, and opportunities to improve integration, efficiency, equity, and the employee experience.
  • Optimize procedures to enable modern, flexible ways of working that are effective, easy to understand, and consistently applied.
Digital Systems Integration
  • Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to support coherent integration of policies, procedures, and processes across digital systems and tools, ensuring alignment between policy intent, process design, system configuration, and emerging AI use cases.
  • Partner with People & Culture, Technology, and Internal Communications teams to support effective alignment between HR technologies, the employee intranet, and internal communication channels.
Strategic Advisory
  • Advise and support colleagues and people leaders on policy, procedure, and process interpretation, contributing to fair, consistent, and values aligned decision making across the organization.
Requirements That Are Important To Us
  • Undergraduate degree in a field that provides foundational knowledge in organizational systems, policy development, and people practices required to design and steward people policies, processes, and programs such as Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 4-5 years of progressive experience in policy development, organizational development, people programs, or related people centred work within a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated experience applying an equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility lens to policy, program, or process design.
  • Experience working collaboratively across functions to design or improve people related processes, policies, or systems.
  • Training or certification in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility or related fields is considered an asset
  • Organization Development Certification Program certificate is an asset
  • Change Management certification (e.g., Prosci) is an asset
  • Chartered Professional/Leader in Human Resources (e.g. CHRP, CHRL) is an asset.
  • Practical understanding of equity-informed practices and how policy/process design reduces systemic barriers.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and people policy/procedure development.
  • Ability to map, analyze, and improve end-to-end people processes, identifying risks, inefficiencies, and equity impacts.
  • Experience aligning policy intent, process design, and digital tools.
  • Strong consultative, analytical, and writing skills, able to translate complex requirements into practical guidance.

The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such, the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.
