Job summary

The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) invites applications for a Senior Specialist, Negotiations to support the Negotiations Task Force, oversee project management, and contribute research and analysis to physician services agreements.

Based in Toronto with a permanent hybrid work arrangement, the role engages cross-functional teams, stakeholder consultations, and strategic initiatives shaping Ontario’s health-care system.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• 4–5 years' experience in research, committee operations, analysis, and project management.
• Ability to lead cross-functional projects through planning and implementation in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in Ontario's health care sector is ideal.
• PMP certification or formal project management training would be an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the operations of the Negotiations Task Force meetings and bilateral negotiations; assist with meeting logistics and documentation.
• Guide project planning for negotiations, including trackers, timelines, and critical paths; monitor deliverables from initiation to close.
• Conduct and synthesize research and analyses across departments; prepare presentations and briefing materials for proposals from groups and stakeholders.
• Ensure the Task Force understands issues, conflicts, and potential solutions; collaborate with physician leaders to resolve problems.
• Monitor trends, policy changes, and system issues affecting physician compensation and practice; identify opportunities for process improvement.

The Senior Specialist, Negotiations is responsible for supporting the operations of the Negotiations Task Force, as well as overseeing project management and participating in research and analysis, providing subject matter expertise and to support successful negotiations of physician services agreements. This position plays a key role on a cross-functional team to lead the development and implementation of key organizational priorities.

How you will make a difference

• Support the operations of OMA Negotiations Task Force Meetings and bilateral negotiations, and other meetings, as needed;
• Guiding the project planning process for negotiations including preparation and development of trackers, timelines and critical paths and monitoring of deliverables through project intiation to close out;
• Supporting research and analysis across multiple departments Synthesizing and summarizing large volumes of complex information, and preparing presentations and reports, , briefing documents, and critiques of proposals from groups, members and other stakeholders;
• Ensuring the Negotiations Task Force is informed and understand issues and potential conflicts; and working with committees and/or other physician leaders to identify solutions and resolve problems as they arise
• Monitor emerging trends, policy changes, and system issues affecting physician compensation and practice.
• Developing and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, OMA members, industry colleagues, health care providers, research community representatives, and government officials as part of stakeholder consultations and program scans; and,
• Identifying opportunities for process improvement initiatives.

Requirements that are important to us

• Masters’ degree in Health Administration, Economics, Business, Political Science or equivalent.
• Four to Five years’ experience in research, committee operations, analysis, and project management.
• Ability to lead projects consisting of cross-functional resources through project plan and implementation in a fast paced environment.
• Applied knowledge and experience in Ontario’s health care sector is ideal.
• PMP certification or formal project management training would be considered an asset.
• Experience in conflict resolution, and knowledge translation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to build and manage relationships with both internal and external customers/stakeholders.

The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such, the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.
