Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Transmission Engineer (Underground Cables) to join our Transmission & Distribution Canada team in Vancouver, BC or Calgary, AB. You will lead complex underground transmission cable projects, providing technical leadership across routing, design, construction, and commissioning.

You will mentor engineers, review deliverables, and coordinate with utilities, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, reliable, and high‑quality results. A P.Eng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Registered P.Eng. in BC or Alberta, or ability to obtain.
• 10–15 years of experience in HV underground cable systems.
• Experience as technical lead or Professional-of-Record on transmission projects.
• Strong knowledge of codes (CSA C22.1, IEEE, IEC) and OH&S requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and execution of underground transmission projects 12 kV–500 kV.
• Serve as PoR ensuring technical accuracy and compliance of deliverables.
• Provide design leadership for routing, duct banks, and installation.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to deliver projects.
• Mentor engineers and review vendor submissions; support field issues.
