Job summary

Altasciences in Laval, QC seeks a Senior Research Scientist to lead the development and optimization of regulatory-ready LC-MS/MS bioanalytical methods for diverse modalities such as small molecules, peptides, biologics, biomarkers, and oligonucleotides.

The role requires 5–8+ years in LC-MS/MS bioanalysis, strong troubleshooting, and excellent written and verbal communication to guide project teams and client discussions.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Biochemistry/ Chemistry/ Analytical Chemistry (or related field).
• Typically 5–8+ years of LC-MS/MS bioanalysis experience and leading method development projects.
• Experience with sample preparation techniques (protein precipitation, SPE, immunoaffinity, enzymatic digestion).
• Strong scientific writing and communication skills for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize robust LC-MS/MS bioanalytical methods under regulatory standards.
• Lead sample preparation, analysis, and data interpretation to meet timelines.
• Troubleshoot complex bioanalytical challenges through systematic experimentation.
• Discuss method development strategies and results in client meetings.
• Prepare method development reports, SOPs, and other documentation.
• Collaborate with validation and operations for method transfer and implementation.
• Stay current with LC-MS technologies to drive continuous improvement.
• Adhere to Health and Safety protocols and lab upkeep.
