Our GTA team is a leader in design, spanning sectors such as Healthcare, Transit, Civic, Federal, Industrial, Aviation, and Education.

Your Opportunity

We seek an experienced Senior Job Captain (Healthcare Sector) with over 20 years of experience in delivering complex, large-scale projects and leading multidisciplinary teams. The role requires a strong understanding of building codes, construction, and technology. The Senior Job Captain will set high standards for deliverables and mentor junior staff.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Manage high-complexity projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget adherence.
  • Team Management: Oversee multidisciplinary teams, foster collaboration, lead design critiques.
  • Mentorship: Guide junior team members in their professional development.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards for all project outputs.
  • Technical Expertise: Keep current with codes, construction methods, and technological advances.
  • Project Experience: Proven experience with hospitals, airports, civic/federal, and institutional buildings.
  • BIM Utilization: Use BIM tools for 3D modeling of buildings and components.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present design and technical info to stakeholders; develop designs within cost parameters.
  • System Evaluation: Select and coordinate building systems and materials.
  • Sustainable Design: Incorporate sustainability principles.
  • Site Analysis: Analyze sites considering various environmental and social factors.
  • Documentation: Ensure design intent is preserved through documentation and construction phases.
  • Collaboration: Work with construction managers, GCs, and in JV environments.
  • MOH Submissions: Familiarity with Ministry of Health submissions is required.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Creative and critical thinking to produce excellent technical designs.
  • Effective communication of concepts and ideas, both abstract and technical.
  • Leadership in project teams and delivery.
  • Attention to accuracy and completeness, managing team to meet budgets and schedules.
  • Interpretation of sketches, drawings, codes, and applications of accessibility and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of building construction, materials, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Revit, AutoCAD, Newforma, Bluebeam.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field; working towards licensure; OAA or LTOAA preferred.
  • Minimum 20 years of experience, preferably with healthcare or institutional clients.
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.
