Job Opening: 100-Ton Captain for Research Vessel
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced 100-Ton Captain to lead operations aboard our 55’ research vessel. This vessel is a cornerstone in our efforts to conduct detailed geotechnical and hydrographic surveys for the offshore wind industry. Operating out of Highlands, NJ, the position demands a dedicated professional capable of guiding the vessel and crew through precise survey operations.
Responsibilities
Command the vessel with a focus on safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Navigate the vessel, ensuring accurate execution of survey lines and data collection.
Oversee the deployment and recovery of sophisticated geotechnical equipment.
Manage crew schedules, duties, and professional development, fostering a collaborative and respectful working environment.
Ensure compliance with all maritime laws and regulations, including safety and environmental policies.
Perform and supervise routine maintenance and emergency repairs as necessary.
Liaise with project managers and clients to ensure the successful completion of survey missions.
Requirements
Valid USCG 100-Ton Master License.

Extensive experience in marine navigation and operations, preferably in hydrographic survey, offshore wind, or coastal construction industries.
Proficient in the use of navigation systems, including RADAR, GPS, and electronic charts.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and excellent communication skills.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including 12-hour shifts and a four-week on/off rotation.
Commitment to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace through pre-employment and random drug testing.
Preferred Qualifications
STCW Basic Safety Training certification.
Experience with diesel engines, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Familiarity with the offshore wind sector or related fields.
USCG licenses or additional maritime certifications.
Proven track record of effective team management and project coordination.
