Job summary

Sun Life Québec is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join the Canadian IT Platform and Engineering team in Montreal. You will contribute 5+ years of Java development experience to design, build and deploy REST APIs and microservices in a Kubernetes environment.

Responsibilities include leading design, ensuring architecture alignment, implementing event-driven services with Kafka, and advancing CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Artifactory, Bitbucket, Maven and Ansible.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of development experience across full software lifecycle.
• Strong experience with Java APIs, REST, SOAP, Spring, JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger.
• 2+ years experience with Kafka and Kafka Streams (with KSQL).
• DevOps proficiency: Jenkins, Artifactory, Bitbucket, Maven, CD/Ansible.
• Experience with Kubernetes, AWS, MongoDB and Postgres.
• Bilingual in French and English for Quebec interactions.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and deployment of Java REST APIs and microservices.
• Ensure service designs follow architecture and are secure.
• Build event-driven services using Kafka.
• Enhance DevOps processes for CD/CI with Jenkins, Artifactory, Bitbucket, Maven and Ansible.
• Mentor colleagues and resolve defects in services.
• Support legacy APIs built on WebSphere, DB2, and Java UI when needed.
