Cognizant in Toronto, Ontario, is seeking a Senior Developer – Java for a hybrid role. You will design and deliver scalable backend systems using Java and Spring Boot, collaborating with frontend, QA, DevOps, and product stakeholders to build robust, secure applications.

With 8–12 years of experience, you will own RESTful APIs, microservices architectures, and performance tuning in an Agile environment. The base salary ranges CAD 61,650 to 91,000 per year, plus a discretionary bonus and benefits.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of Java development experience in enterprise backend systems.
• Strong expertise in Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.
• Experience designing microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on with Oracle databases, SQL, and performance tuning.
• Proven debugging and RCA abilities; CI/CD experience.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery and version control (Git).
• Experience with observability/tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems in Java/Spring Boot.
• Build secure RESTful APIs for internal/external integrations.
• Write clean, testable code with unit/integration tests.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile environments.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and security; monitor and tune.
