Job summary

Horizon Contracting Group in Kelowna, BC, is seeking an experienced Irrigation Technician to design, install, maintain and improve irrigation systems across commercial, residential, and municipal properties. The role involves problem solving, quality workmanship, and growing our irrigation division while mentoring others.

You will work outdoors on active job sites, read plans, operate trenchers and power tools, and support safety and customer service.

Qualifications

5–7 years installing and maintaining irrigation systems.
2+ years in leadership or management.
Strong knowledge of irrigation design, installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and system maintenance.
Experience with irrigation controllers, low‑voltage systems, PVC and poly pipe installation.
Ability to read plans, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driver’s abstract.
Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

Install and maintain irrigation systems across commercial, residential, and municipal properties.
Perform spring startups, winterizations, and seasonal service work.
Diagnose issues and coordinate with suppliers for solutions.
Read plans to ensure installations meet design specs.
Develop shop drawings and as-built drawings.
Lead and mentor team members in the field.
Assist with scheduling and coordinating irrigation projects.
Deliver exceptional customer service and build client relationships.
Complete safety inspections and keep equipment in good order.
