Mercer Canada is seeking a Senior Investment Analyst for our Montreal, Quebec City or Ottawa office.

As a Senior Investment Analyst – you will be supporting our team by providing advice to pension plan sponsors, endowments, foundations, and other institutional asset pools, helping them make informed decisions that optimize risk-adjusted returns in relation to their underlying liabilities and spending commitments. This role necessitates collaboration with colleagues across Canada. This is a hybrid role that requires being in the office at least 3 days a week.

We will count on you to :

• Closely support consultants in servicing existing clients and prospects.
• Actively participate in pension committee meetings and other client meetings cycle from the preparation to the presentation of our reports, findings and recommendations.
• Communicate with investment managers, record keepers and custodians to gather and / or clarify client-specific data for reporting.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis utilizing Mercer’s proprietary tools.
• Critically analyze different investment markets, managers' investment styles, and portfolio characteristics, and evaluate their impact on investment performance each quarter.
• Produce quarterly performance reports for our clients.
• Play an important role in investment manager searches, asset allocation studies, investment policy reviews and other ad-hoc investment-related projects.
• Plan, supervise and review more straight-forward investment-related projects.
• Play a mentoring role with more junior analysts to support them in their progress.
• Support consultants in servicing existing clients and prospects.
• Develop the knowledge and skills required to allow progression to a consultant role.
• Demonstrate ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients and colleagues at all levels.
• Represent and promote the image of Mercer, both internally and externally.

What you need to have :

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, actuarial studies, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in financial services or pension environment working in an analyst and client facing capacity is preferred.
• Designation or enrollment to achieve group annuity plans advisor, CFA or FICA certification is considered an asset.
• A general understanding of the industry sector, trends in the retirement and investment market, the investment market, and investment managers.
• Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task, work under tight deadlines and demonstrate problem solving skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Motivated and willing to learn.
• Proactive and independent.
• Overall good technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a high proficiency in Excel.
