Job summary

Vancity is seeking a Senior Integration Engineer in Canada to design, develop, and maintain Azure-based backend integrations using Logic Apps, Functions, and Service Bus. You will work with product managers, engineers, and compliance to deliver secure, scalable solutions for the finance industry.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with on-site presence for events and business demands, and reports to the Senior Manager, Integration Platform.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years backend software development with C# and Azure.
  • Strong OO programming and scalable backend design.
  • Experience designing event-driven architectures and messaging.
  • Deep hands-on with Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, API Management).
  • Security, authentication, authorization, and compliant integrations in financial services.
  • Familiarity with MuleSoft to Azure migrations.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and architect backend integration workflows with Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, API Management) and C#.
  • Design event-driven architectures using Azure Event Hubs or Kafka, including messaging schemas, ordering, retries, dead-letter handling, and resiliency patterns.
  • Build scalable backend services using Azure Serverless and cloud-native design patterns.
  • Monitor, alert, and optimize performance and cost with Azure Monitor, App Insights, and Log Analytics.
  • Ensure security/compliance with OAuth2, Azure AD, RBAC, encryption, and secure API/messaging practices.
  • Collaborate with teams using MuleSoft to design, integrate, and support hybrid solutions across technologies.
  • Drive CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code improvements using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions.
  • Maintain technical documentation and troubleshoot production/non-production environments.
  • Apply financial services knowledge to integration work.
  • Explore new tools in event streaming, orchestration, automation, and AI-assisted integration.

Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

VanCity is modernizing financial systems with secure, real-time, and scalable solutions. We're seeking a Senior Integration Engineer with deep expertise in Azure Integration Services and Microsoft technologies. If you're passionate about building robust, high-performance backend services using C# and Azure Serverless, and want to shape the future of financial infrastructure, we want to meet you.


You'll design, develop, and maintain enterprise integrations using Azure Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, and API Management. You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, and compliance teams to deliver secure, performant, and scalable solutions that meet the rigorous standards of the finance industry. Leadership experience and a finance background are highly valued.


This is a Full-time, Permanent role will report directly to Senior Manager, Integration Platform. Our head office is based in Vancouver, but we are open to candidates in BC and Ontario. While this position is for an existing vacancy and provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on-site for events and business demands when needed.


How You'll Make an Impact:


  • Implementing, maintain, and architect backend integration workflows using Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, API Management) and C#.

  • Designing and supporting event-driven architectures using Azure Event Hubs and/or Kafka, including message schemas, ordering, retries, dead-letter handling, and resiliency patterns.

  • Building scalable, object-oriented backend services leveraging Azure Serverless and cloud-native design patterns.

  • Optimizing integration solutions for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Implement monitoring and alerting using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.

  • Ensuring integration solutions meet enterprise security and compliance requirements, including OAuth2, Azure AD, RBAC, encryption, and secure API and messaging practices.

  • Collaborating with teams using MuleSoft and other integration platforms to design, integrate, and support hybrid solutions across technologies.

  • Driving continuous improvement in integration patterns, CI/CD pipelines, and automation using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and Infrastructure as Code.

  • Maintaining clear technical documentation and provide troubleshooting and support for production and non-production integration environments.

  • Applying knowledge of financial services processes, data integrity, and regulatory requirements to all integration work.

  • Exploring emerging tools and approaches in event streaming, orchestration, automation, and AI-assisted integration, applying them pragmatically when appropriate.


What You’ll Bring to the Team:


  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field

  • 7+ years of backend software development experience, with strong expertise in C# and Microsoft Azure

  • Strong object-oriented programming skills and experience building scalable backend services

  • Experience designing and implementing event-driven architectures, including messaging and asynchronous processing

  • Deep hands-on experience with Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, API Management)

  • Proficiency with Azure Serverless architectures and cloud-native integration patterns

  • Solid understanding of API security, authentication, authorization, and secure integration practices

  • Familiarity with financial-services, security, compliance, and audit requirementsExcellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills

  • Experience migrating integrations or APIs from MuleSoft to Azure Integration Services

  • Hands-on experience modernizing MuleSoft APIs or flows into Azure-native or serverless architectures

What You’ll Earn

This role offers a salary range of $101,200 to $130,900 per annum. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
