CAA Club Group in Vaughan, Canada, is seeking an experienced Senior Reinsurance Accountant to oversee journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting for the reinsurance portfolio. You will develop procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial processes and support audits and regulatory reviews.

The role requires strong analytical skills, CPA designation, and 5-7+ years of insurance accounting experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or equivalent degree in Business / Finance / Accounting.
• CPA designation required.
• 5-7+ years progressive experience in an Insurance accounting role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP experience.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the review and approval of reinsurance journal entries and reconciliations prepared by the Reinsurance and Insurance Financial Reporting team.
• Develop and maintain day-to-day reinsurance accounting procedures to promote efficiency in accounting transactions and reporting.
• Analyze and prepare the quarterly and annual performance and reinsurance settlement reporting to reinsurers and manage the reinsurance payments and receipts.
• Understand the various reinsurance treaties and the impacts on reinsurance operations and the insurance KPI metrics.
• Lead the quarterly and annual preparation of reinsurance related financial statement and regulatory reporting areas and assist in review of relevant balance sheet and income statement account analysis.
• Coordinate the Finance components of the annual reinsurance renewal cycle including the data gathering to support the submission packages, questionnaires, and exhibits.
• Manage and keep abreast of the technical accounting requirements for the reinsurance portfolio to ensure our reporting is aligned with relevant accounting standards.
• Support internal and external audits and regulatory reviews related to reinsurance.
• Lead and support all finance aspects for the implementation of a new reinsurance system. Implement automation and continuous improvement opportunities in working papers and settlement procedures to reduce manual processes.
• Develop and maintain partnership with key input business functions (i.e. Risk, Actuarial, Pricing, etc.) and reinsurance partners as well as operational areas at all leadership levels.
