Description

Our electric power generation clients, both in Canada and the US, are updating and replacing the power plant control systems with new digital control systems. This expansion increases work in the Instrumentation and Controls Engineering group.

This senior-level design engineering position offers a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities in nuclear Instrument and Controls Engineering, providing an excellent opportunity to advance your career. You will lead a team of nuclear I&C Engineers, interface with discipline engineers and designers on the Project Team, and collaborate with the client to ensure all requirements are met.

You will work on major process controls engineering projects for upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants, including:

• Digital Systems — PLC, DCS, Touchscreen displays, network switches, and control systems
• Functional Requirement and Procurement Specifications, and software categorization reports for instrumentation and control systems in nuclear power plants
• Process instrumentation replacement evaluation reports and nuclear modification packages
• Preparation of instrument data sheets (IDS) and instrument calibration sheets
• Design input documentation for drawings, including cable block diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics
• Vendor interface and equipment purchase specifications
• Technical reports and studies that clearly present information to meet client needs
• Participation in client meetings and site walkdowns to ensure satisfaction
• Mentoring less experienced nuclear instrumentation and controls design engineers

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience include:

• A BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Canadian or U.S. program
• At least 5 years of experience in process control systems design engineering; nuclear power plant control system experience is preferred
• Experience with power plant instrumentation and controls for Candu reactors, including DCS for turbines, control, feedwater, and data display
• Knowledge of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems for system design
• Experience reviewing design drawings created by others

Valued but not required:

• P.Eng license
