Your Opportunity

Are you ready to join our Instrumentation and Controls team?

Your Key Responsibilities

A successful applicant will work with a multidisciplinary group of engineers and designers providing technical services to public and private-sector clients. Primary duties will include control systems engineering, process control strategy planning, automation design, construction support services, and planning studies with detailed analyses. These designs will relate to water and wastewater treatment plants and related facilities. Experience with equipment selections, equipment and communication network layouts, and process control design coordination with other engineering disciplines is required. Candidates should be at ease with core aspects of PLC, HMI and SCADA system planning, design, programming, and upgrades.

The successful applicant is expected to be proficient in the following areas.

  • Design Activities, including developing preliminary scope definitions, budgets, and staffing plans
  • Field review and evaluation of existing equipment, control systems (hardware and software) and control panels
  • Preparing studies, conceptual reports, and technical memorandums
  • Conducting I&C engineering and analyses related to water, wastewater, and industrial waste treatment facilities
  • Supporting multi-disciplinary teams with engineering design projects and studies
  • Developing construction documents (drawings, specifications, and schedules), including: P&ID drawings, network architecture diagrams, control panel details, CCTV and Access Control System drawings, wiring diagrams, and instrument installation details
  • Development of technical specifications, instrument datasheets, and detailed control strategies/narratives
  • Senior review and evaluation of electrical schematic diagrams and plans
  • Review and evaluation of mechanical specifications with controls content
  • Coordination of I&C deliverables with process, mechanical, and electrical disciplines

Construction Support Activities

  • Review of Contractor and Supplier submittals
  • Participate in construction site inspections
  • Support equipment and control system commissioning, start-up, and performance testing
  • Assist with system troubleshooting

Marketing Support Activities Would Be Considered An Asset

  • Assisting marketing team with project pursuit strategies
  • Presentation material development
  • Presentation participation
  • Serving as I&C discipline subject matter expert

Work safely by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Solid interpersonal skills for working in a team environment (virtual or in-person)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to convey project I&C needs to project managers and clients, translating them into comprehensive plans and specifications
  • Ability to mentor junior to intermediate staff and work with remotely located project team members
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering; 15 years of experience in instrumentation and controls
  • Professional Engineering registration (P.Eng.) or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire date
