Intact is seeking an In-House Legal Counsel II specializing in Accident Benefits in Toronto. You will manage a busy practice, collaborate with a top-tier team of lawyers, adjusters, and support staff, and contribute to strategic indemnity and expense control initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of insurance litigation experience.
• Proven experience handling accident benefits files.
• Experience before the License Appeal Tribunal.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a busy practice with autonomy while collaborating with a high-performing team of lawyers, adjusters, and legal support professionals.
• Help Intact achieve strategic goals related to indemnity and expense control.
• Handle accident benefits disputes, loss transfer and priority dispute files from beginning to end.
• Appear before the License Appeal Tribunal and prepare written and oral submissions as needed.
• Assess claims with a focus on controlling indemnity while maintaining a pragmatic, efficient resolution focus.
• Share knowledge and coach colleagues within and outside the department.
