Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test to join the Cloud Experience Quality Engineering team in Ottawa. You will design and execute functional, load, and performance tests for Akamai's Cloud API and Cloud Identity Management solutions, and drive test automation across CI/CD pipelines.

You will work with cross-functional teams across the US, CA, Poland, and India to ensure software quality, release readiness, and platform resilience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ years of experience developing Python-based automation frameworks and testing REST/Open APIs.
• Strong UNIX/Linux experience and solid networking knowledge (HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP).
• Experience with Git, Jira, and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Kubernetes experience: deploying and managing containerized apps in Kubernetes environments.

Responsibilities

• Review product designs, architectures and specs; develop comprehensive test plans and execute functional, load, and performance tests.
• Contribute to test automation infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines; write automated tests and review PRs.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional, globally distributed team of developers, SDET engineers, architects, and PMs.
• Ensure systems and software meet product specs; contribute to release readiness decisions and deployment schedules.

You will work with the development teams to support Quality practices. You will be responsible for building manual and automated integration and system tests. You will be responsible for quality of our various API and other services offered on Akamai cloud. You will also ensure that our cloud platform is resilient, secure and scalable.

As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test, you will be responsible for:

• Reviewing product designs, Architecture and specifications and developing comprehensive test plans, and executing functional, load, and performance tests.
• Providing continuous contribution to test automation infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, including writing automated tests and reviewing peer automation pull requests (PRs).
• Partnering closely with a cross-functional, globally distributed team of developers, SDET engineers, architects, and program managers (US, CA, Poland, India).
• Ensuring all systems and software meet product specifications while actively contributing to release readiness decisions and deployment schedules.

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Have a solid understanding of SDLC and testing methodologies.
• Demonstrate proven experience of more than 6 yrs of developing Python-based automation frameworks and testing REST/Open APIs.
• Have solid hands-on experience with Unix/Linux environments and core networking concepts (HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP).
• Be proficient with Git, Jira, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and basic MySQL database querying/schema design.
• Possess experience with Kubernetes (K8s), including deploying, managing, scaling, and troubleshooting containerized applications in Kubernetes environments
