Job summary

WSP Canada is seeking a Senior ICSS & SCADA Engineer to lead complex automation projects from concept to commissioning across energy, transportation, data centres and industrial environments.

You will design and test ICSS/SCADA/BPCS/SIS, apply IEC 61508/61511, engineer secure OT networks, deliver high‑quality drawings and alarm management, and mentor multidisciplinary teams while coordinating with clients and regulators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in automation, ICSS, and SCADA engineering roles.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation required; Functional Safety and OT Cybersecurity certifications are strong assets.
• Experience delivering systems across Oil & Gas, Pharmaceuticals, Transportation Systems, and Data Centres.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, programming, testing, and commissioning of complex ICSS, SCADA, BPCS, and SIS systems for critical infrastructure projects.
• Apply and champion compliance with IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 functional safety standards across all project phases.
• Architect and implement secure OT network designs, incorporating cybersecurity best practices in industrial control environments.
• Develop high‑quality engineering deliverables, including control philosophies, drawings, execution strategies, and alarm management plans.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration and alignment with client and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee commissioning and start‑up activities, including live system transitions, hot cutovers, and performance validation.
• Build trusted client relationships by providing technical leadership, conducting site inspections, and supporting technical surveys.

Step into a senior technical leadership role where your expertise in Integrated Control & Safety Systems (ICSS) and Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) helps shape the reliability, safety, and performance of critical infrastructure. • Proven expertise with major platforms such as Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, Emerson DeltaV, Siemens, Aveva (System Platform, OSI PI, InTouch), Ignition, Iconics, ReLab Clearview.
• Strong working knowledge of alarm management, rationalisation, and operational readiness.
• Experience delivering systems across industries including Oil & Gas, Pharmaceuticals, Transportation Systems, and Data Centres.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation required; Functional Safety and OT Cybersecurity certifications are considered strong assets.
• Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to deliver under tight timelines in complex project environments.

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 – $179,100

MB & ON: $123,300 – $169,800

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $122,100 – $162,200

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
