Job summary

WSP in Canada is seeking a Senior ICSS & SCADA Engineer to lead complex automation projects from concept to commissioning for critical infrastructure across energy, transportation, data centres, and industrial environments.

You will guide design, testing, and deployment of ICSS/SCADA/BPCS/SIS, champion functional safety, and architect secure OT networks while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Control Systems engineering.
• 10+ years in automation, ICSS, and SCADA roles.
• PEng designation is required.
• Experience with major platforms and integration.
• Knowledge of alarm management and operational readiness.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, programming, testing, and commissioning of ICSS/SCADA/BPCS/SIS.
• Apply IEC 61508/61511 functional safety standards across projects.
• Architect secure OT networks and integrate cybersecurity practices.

Step into a senior technical leadership role where your expertise in Integrated Control & Safety Systems (ICSS) and Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) helps shape the reliability, safety, and performance of critical infrastructure. As a Senior ICSS & SCADA Engineer, you will lead complex automation solutions from concept through commissioning, supporting major projects across energy, transportation, data centres, and advanced industrial environments.

Your Impact

• Lead the design, programming, testing, and commissioning of complex ICSS, SCADA, BPCS, and SIS systems for critical infrastructure projects.
• Apply and champion compliance with IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 functional safety standards across all project phases.
• Architect and implement secure OT network designs, integrating cybersecurity best practices into industrial control environments.
• Develop high‑quality engineering deliverables, including control philosophies, drawings, execution strategies, and alarm management plans.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration and alignment with client and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee commissioning and start‑up activities, including live system transitions, hot cutovers, and performance validation.
• Build trusted client relationships by providing technical leadership, conducting site inspections, and supporting technical surveys.

The Skills That Set You Apart

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in automation, ICSS, and SCADA engineering roles.
• Proven expertise with major platforms such as Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, Emerson DeltaV, Siemens, Aveva (System Platform, OSI PI, InTouch), Ignition, Iconics, ReLab Clearview.
• Strong working knowledge of alarm management, rationalisation, and operational readiness.
• Experience delivering systems across industries including Oil & Gas, Pharmaceuticals, Transportation Systems, and Data Centres.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation required; Functional Safety and OT Cybersecurity certifications are considered strong assets.
• Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to deliver under tight timelines in complex project environments.

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 – $179,100

MB & ON: $123,300 – $169,800

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $122,100 – $162,200

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
