Job summary

GEMTEC Consulting Engineers and Scientists Limited. seeks a Senior Hydrogeologist to join our Mount Pearl, NL office. You will provide leadership on hydrogeology projects, oversee field investigations, and mentor junior staff while developing strong client relationships.

The role emphasizes project management, regulatory knowledge, and collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams in a close-knit, employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in earth science, environmental science or geological/geotechnical/civil engineering with emphasis in water resources and hydrogeology.
• Professional license in NL (P.Geo. or P.Eng.)
• Minimum 12 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in consulting.
• Strong knowledge of provincial and federal regulatory frameworks for groundwater withdrawal/use, drinking water supply, contaminated sites assessment and management, and environmental assessment.
• Familiarity with infrastructure, pit and quarry, and community supply; mining experience is an asset.
• Groundwater flow and transport modeling experience is an asset.
• Numerical and advanced hydraulic testing experience is an asset.
• Senior project management and people management skills are required.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and oversight to hydrogeology projects and prepare proposals/reports with senior staff.
• Design and oversee field investigations (drilling, coring, testing, sampling, instrumentation).
• Lead and assist junior staff in preparing technical proposals and reports (hydrogeological assessments, water studies, dewatering assessments).
• Provide mentorship and technical coaching to junior staff.
• Develop and maintain client relationships.
• Provide senior leadership within Newfoundland and Labrador operations; may include team lead roles.
