Job summary

Fuze HR Solutions seeks a Senior Hydrogeologist/Groundwater Modeler for major mining projects. The role covers Canada and international sites, emphasizing numerical modeling, dewatering, and groundwater management.

Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline with strong focus on numerical groundwater modeling.
  • Professional registration as a P.Geo. or P.Eng.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in hydrogeology consulting focused on groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling.
  • Minimum of 10+ years consulting on major mining projects.
  • Extensive experience using numerical groundwater modeling software such as GMS, Groundwater Vistas, FEFLOW, or similar platforms.
  • Experience developing and applying 3D hydrogeological conceptual models.
  • Experience with Leapfrog, Surfer, EVS, or equivalent tools.
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming: Python, FloPy, FORTRAN or related.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Experience mentoring technical teams; exposure to environmental consulting and multidisciplinary delivery.
  • Spanish language proficiency

Senior Hydrogeologist / Groundwater Modeler – Major Mining Projects

Salary Range: $150K – $185k

Hybrid or Remote

Location Flexible: Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton or Saskatoon

About the Opportunity

Our Client is looking for an experienced Senior Hydrogeologist/ Groundwater Modeler to play a key role in delivering innovative hydrogeological solutions for major mining, infrastructure, and resource development projects across Canada, US and South America. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of recognized experts, you will contribute to high-profile projects involving mine dewatering, groundwater impact assessments, seepage management, water resource planning, and environmental stewardship throughout the mine lifecycle.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise in groundwater modeling, coupled with the ability to mentor team members, and build trusted client relationships. This role offers exposure to technically challenging projects, international collaboration, and opportunities to influence strategic water management decisions for some of the mining industry's most significant owner operators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on hydrogeological and groundwater modeling projects across Canada (in addition to supporting key projects in the United States, and South America)
  • Develop, calibrate, and refine groundwater flow and contaminant transport models for complex mining and environmental projects
  • Analyze and interpret hydrogeological, geological, and environmental datasets to support conceptual and numerical modeling initiatives
  • Develop and maintain three-dimensional hydrogeological conceptual models using industry-leading software platforms
  • Support groundwater investigations related to mine dewatering, seepage control, groundwater impact assessments, and water management strategies
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate hydrogeologists and modelers
  • Participate in client engagement activities, proposal development, and business development initiatives
  • Contribute to technical reporting, presentation development, and the communication of modeling results to clients and regulatory agencies
  • Work collaboratively with project teams across multiple disciplines and geographic regions
  • Travel periodically to project sites within Canada and internationally, as required
Requirements / Qualifications

  • Proficiency in developing and managing scripts and computational workflows using Python, FloPy, FORTRAN, or related programming languages
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to domestic and international project locations
  • Experience supporting large-scale mining projects through various stages of the project lifecycle
  • Exposure to environmental consulting and multidisciplinary project delivery environments
  • Spanish language proficiency
