Job summary

R.V. Anderson Associates Limited in Toronto is seeking an experienced Senior Hydraulic Modeler to join its Urban and Riverine Systems team.

You will lead planning, calibration, and application of hydraulic models for water, wastewater, and stormwater, provide technical leadership on municipal projects, and mentor junior modellers.

The role offers opportunities to develop modelling strategies, manage client relationships, and contribute to proposals and reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related field, from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Registered or eligible to apply for a P.Eng. license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in water, wastewater and/or stormwater modelling and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, complex hydraulic modelling and infrastructure planning projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with InfoWorks ICM, PCSWMM, InfoWater Pro and WaterGEMS.
  • Aptitude for meeting project schedules and budgets.
  • Excellent skills in technical writing and report preparation.
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with staff and clients.

  • Lead field test planning for calibrations and validations.
  • Provide technical oversight and QA/QC of hydraulic modelling deliverables by junior staff.
  • Mentor and train junior and intermediate modellers and support their development.
  • Build and maintain client relationships, identifying opportunities for repeat business.
  • Lead proposal development, including write-up, project schedule, and fee estimation.
  • Prepare technical memorandums and reports.

Responsibilities
  • Lead planning, development, calibration, and application of hydraulic models for water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.

  • Develop modelling strategies, establish technical approaches, and provide engineering recommendations based on model analyses.
  • Lead field test planning for model calibration and validation.
  • Provide technical oversight and QA/QC of hydraulic modelling deliverables prepared by junior staff.
  • Mentor and train junior and intermediate modellers, supporting their technical and professional development.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for repeat business and new projects.

  • Perform other engineering and modelling tasks as assigned.

The compensation range for this position is from $120,000.00 to $170,000.00. Compensation for this role will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
