R.V. Anderson Associates Limited in Vancouver is seeking an Engineer-in-Training to join our Urban & Riverine Systems team.

You will support design of stormwater, drainage, and flood management projects and perform hydrologic/hydraulic modeling for water resources initiatives. You will collaborate with engineers and clients, prepare reports and drawings using CAD and GIS, and contribute to ISMPs, master plans, and approval documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• EGBC-registered or eligible to register as Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
• 0-3+ years of consulting experience in municipal water resources or civil infrastructure.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, and SWMM.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and development of stormwater, drainage, and flood management systems.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for water resources projects.
• Assist in ISMPs, Drainage Master Plans, flood hazard and overland flow assessments, capacity analysis.
• Analyze storm and sanitary system performance and propose optimization strategies.
• Support proposal development including schedules and fees.
• Prepare technical drawings, reports, and specifications using CAD and GIS.
• Contribute to permit applications and environmental documentation.
• Assist in cost estimation and construction documentation.

RVA is looking for an Engineer-in-Training to join our Urban & Riverine Systems team in our Vancouver office.

The successful candidate will support a variety of projects in British Columbia, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. Project work may include stormwater management, flood control, watershed modeling, and infrastructure design. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with engineers, planners, and clients.

Duties:

• Assist in the design and development of stormwater, drainage, and flood management systems


• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling for water resources projects


• Perform infrastructure planning and assessment studies, including Integrated Stormwater Management Plans (ISMPs), Drainage Master Plans, flood hazard and overland flow assessments, capacity analysis, and system optimization.


• Analyze storm and sanitary system performance and identify practical solutions and strategies for system optimization and improvement.


• Support proposal development, including write-up, project schedule, and fee estimation.


• Prepare technical drawings, reports, and specifications using CAD and GIS software


• Conduct site assessments, data collection, and analysis to support design recommendations


• Work with project managers and engineers to ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations


• Support the preparation of permit applications and environmental documentation


• Assist in cost estimation and construction documentation

Qualifications:

• 0-3+ years of experience in a consulting environment on municipal water resources or civil infrastructure projects


• Work experience with Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, and SWMM


• Experience with XPSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, or MicroStation would be an asset


• Knowledge of stormwater best management practices (BMPs) and low impact development (LID) techniques; familiarity with MMCD specifications is an asset


• Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills


• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related field, from an accredited post-secondary institution


• Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC), or eligible to register.

Compensation Range

The salary range for this position is: $72,000.00 - $85,000.00

Compensation for this role will be determined based on a variety of factors, including, but not necessarily limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
