Job summary

Aviso Wealth is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer in Vancouver to own and improve hybrid infrastructure across Windows, Linux, VMware, and cloud platforms. You will lead incident management, participate in strategic projects, and drive automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible, SaltStack, Git, and Azure DevOps.

The role requires 7+ years of production infrastructure experience, strong scripting skills, and Azure certification or equivalent.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of proven experience operating and engineering mid-size or larger production infrastructure environments across Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux, VMware, backup/recovery, monitoring, and hybrid cloud services.
• Azure/AWS production services experience including VMs, storage, networking, monitoring, security controls, and operational troubleshooting.
• Experience resolving complex infrastructure incidents, leading troubleshooting, implementing changes, and contributing to root cause analysis.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure security, patching, access controls, backup/recovery, disaster recovery, monitoring, and audit readiness.
• Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible, SaltStack, Git, Azure DevOps; building repeatable automation.
• Networking knowledge: DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, TLS/SSL, HTTP/S, load balancing, Layer 7 diagnostics.
• Azure certification or equivalent hands-on capability; VMware/Linux/Microsoft certifications preferred.
• English fluency required; bilingual French is an asset

Responsibilities

• Own complex incidents, problems, changes, and operational escalations across Windows, Linux, VMware, Azure, AWS, backup/recovery, monitoring, and infrastructure services.
• Lead or contribute to infrastructure projects: platform upgrades, migrations, patching programs, automation, cloud deployments, DR improvements, monitoring enhancements.
• Develop and maintain automation, scripts, configuration management, and tooling (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible, SaltStack, Git, Azure DevOps).
• Provide technical design input and support for resilient, secure infrastructure across hybrid cloud and data centre environments.
• Strengthen controls for patching, vulnerability remediation, access management, backups, disaster recovery, monitoring, and documentation.
• Perform advanced diagnostics across OS, identity, virtualization, storage, network, DNS, TLS/SSL, load balancing, and Layer 7 connectivity.
• Coach less experienced teammates through troubleshooting, runbooks, change execution, and documentation.
