Summary of responsibilities:

TheSenior Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for engaging with all levels of management to provide expert advice and direction on a wide range of human resources related areas. These include talent acquisition, capacity talent reviews, performance management, coaching and succession planning. They play a key role in supporting the organization’s leaders in ensuring our talent strategy aligns with our long-term business priorities. Core responsibilities include leading talent strategy to attract, hire top talent to help close any skills gaps and/or retain employees by identifying ways to upskill or re-skill the future workforce. The Senior Human Resources Business Partner will work closely with the Human Resources team and management to foster a vibrant, friendly work environment that promotes strong collaboration, innovation, high performance, and continuous learning. TheSenior Human Resources Business Partner performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.

What you need to succeed

To qualify for the position, you must have:

  • Graduation from a recognized university in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or Business Administration with a specialization in Human Resources.

  • Certified Human Resources Professional designation or equivalent preferred.

  • 6 - 10 years related HR experience with 3+ years as a business partner or HR generalist with demonstrated proactive advisory capability.

  • Experience providing consultation to leaders in the areas of workforce planning, talent management, organizational development, organizational design, and change management.

  • Experience supporting the development and management of programs, policies, and procedures in an HR environment.

  • Experience in forming, leading, and facilitating meetings and work groups.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of HR Management policies, practices, theories, concepts, and systems.

  • Knowledge and understanding of employment laws (including the Canada Labour Code, Human Rights Act and Employment Equity Act) and industry trends relating to HR.

  • Experience providing expertise, guidance and coaching to management and employees in the delivery of HR programs.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Ability to propose solutions that are adapted to the client’s context while leveraging their professional experience.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen, understand, write clearly and concisely, and demonstrated effective verbal delivery.

Valuable skills include:

  • Experience working with all levels of an organization, including executive level leadership.

  • Sound knowledge of current employment related legislation, human resources best practices and policies and labour relations and proven ability to advise clients.

  • Experience collaborating with team members on new approaches, programs, policies, and procedures to continually improve HR practices in support of CATSA’s quality of service and operational plan achievement.

  • Demonstrated successful execution of key Human Resources projects and programs.

  • Experience planning and coordinating the delivery of annual HR initiatives with business leaders such as workforce/talent planning, employee engagement initiatives, and other programs that may be developed.

Specific work requirements

  • Ability to work overtime as required;

  • Language Profile: CBCC;

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; and

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
