Job summary

General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada is seeking a Senior Human Factors Engineering Analyst to lead HFE activities across multiple programs. You will set objectives, methods and success measures while serving as the technical authority on human factors within a multidisciplinary team.

You will conduct task analyses, workload and usability assessments, and translate findings into actionable requirements and design guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in human factors/ergonomics/psychology or related field with substantial human-factors coursework.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in human factors engineering, HSI, ergonomics, UX-related fields.
• Hold or be eligible for CCPE, CPE, or CHFP accreditation.
• Hold or be eligible for CIEHF membership.

Responsibilities

• Lead HFE activities across programs, defining objectives, methods, deliverables, schedules and success measures.
• Act as HFE technical authority, reviewing work and ensuring alignment with risks and lifecycle needs.
• Perform hierarchical and cognitive task analyses, workload and usability assessments, and related analyses.
• Analyze user roles, tasks and environments to identify requirements, workload concerns and design opportunities.
• Translate findings into requirements, models, use scenarios, design guidance and reports.
• Collaborate with systems, software, mech, safety and verification teams to integrate HFE early in design.
• Maintain traceability of needs, HFE requirements and verification evidences using DOORS and Windchill PDMLink.
• Apply MIL-STD-1472, ISO and ANSI standards for HFE content and conformance.
• Identify human-performance risks and work with engineering/safety teams to mitigate them.
• Lead workshops, design reviews, trade studies and validation sessions.
• Present HFE risks and design recommendations to engineers, leadership and customers.
• Estimate resources and schedules, set priorities with leads, and communicate delivery risks.
• Mentor junior practitioners and develop reusable HFE methods and templates.
