Job summary

Synergy Projects Ltd. in Calgary seeks a Senior HSE Program Coordinator to administer and continuously improve the Health, Safety & Environment program. The role combines office administration with regular travel to active construction sites, reporting to the HSE Manager.

You will develop safety policies, monitor statistics, maintain COR certification, coordinate training, and support the Safety Committee. A strong safety background and industry knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• NCSO Certification is required.
• OHS Certificate and/or degree in Occupational Health & Safety is an asset.
• Gold Seal Construction Safety Coordinator designation is an asset.
• Minimum 5-7 years of construction safety experience, preferably in commercial construction.
• Strong knowledge of OH&S legislation and industry best practices.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, safety inspections, and audits.
• Experience in training employees and mentoring/coaching.
• Knowledge of WCB claims management and return-to-work programs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct project safety inspections and audits.
• Attend safety meetings and participate in hazard assessments.
• Assist Site Superintendents with developing site-specific emergency response plans.
• Enforce Occupational Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
• Provide health and safety information and guidance to employees.
• Liaise with subcontractors, clients, and project safety representatives as required.
• Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions are identified.
• Manage and coordinate the Safety Training Program.
• Schedule and facilitate employee safety training with internal and third-party providers.
• Maintain training records in the safety management system.
• Conduct safety orientations for new field and office staff.
• Support coaching, mentoring, and safety awareness initiatives across project teams.
• Review and investigate workplace incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Administer WCB claims and related documentation; coordinate return-to-work programs.
