Job summary

Paymentus Corporation in Ontario is seeking an Human Resources Generalist to manage HR duties across designated regions, including benefits, employee relations, onboarding, performance management, and compliance with ESA, OHRC and AODA.

The role collaborates with senior HR management to develop policies, administer the compensation program, coordinate Health and Safety initiatives, and support recruiting, training and development within a fast-paced corporate environment.

Job description

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting designated geographic regions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action/employment equity and employment law compliance.

Essential Functions
  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in developing and implementing company policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains the Employee Handbook and policy manual, ensuring compliance with Ontario’s Employment Standards Act (ESA), the Ontario Human Rights Code, and AODA
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, systems and processes
  • Administers the compensation program and monitors the performance review process, making revisions as necessary.
  • Assists with benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to employees.
  • Conducts Leadership development training program; conducts new-employee orientations; assists with development of and monitors career- pathing program.
  • Handles employee relations counseling, workplace conflict resolutions and exit interviews.
  • Manages short term disability claims, statutory leaves under the Employment Standards Act (ESA), and medical accommodations in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and AODA.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state/provincial and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Coordinates and maintains Health and Safety program in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, acts as a point of contact for the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) and manages WSIB claim, and return to work accommodations.
Education
  • A bachelor's degree and three to five years of HR experience, or a master's degree in HR management and two years of experience in the HR field, or seven years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.
  • Professional designation (CHRP) preferred or actively in progress.
Experience & Skills
  • Solid knowledge of Ontario’s employment law, HR policies, and HR operational processes.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of building collaborative relationships across diverse teams and departments.
  • Hands-on experience with HR Information Systems (HRIS) such as UKG/UltiPro along with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Little to no travel is expected for this position.
