Job summary

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a Home & Community Care Worker II in Iqaluit to provide in-home care and support for vulnerable clients with dignity and cultural safety. You will assist with activities of daily living, medication reminders, meals, and personal care in a northern, cross-cultural setting.

Applicants should have at least Grade 10 and two years of home care experience; certifications in Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid are assets.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Grade 10 or equivalent with two years of home care experience.
• Experience providing personal care for clients such as Elders or individuals with health challenges is required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, First Aid and training in Personal Care Skills or home support are assets.

Responsibilities

• Maintain client confidentiality for all records and communications.
• Carry out client care and service plans per the care plan and task list.
• Perform specialized tasks for palliative, rehabilitation or post-acute clients.
• Prepare nourishing meals and assist with groceries, light housekeeping, laundry and clothing care.
• Record data accurately, observe client condition and report changes in planned hours of service.
