Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Health Risk Assessment Specialist to shape environmental risk management across Canada. You will lead human health and ecological risk assessments, provide technical leadership on complex projects, and translate science into practical strategies that protect people and ecosystems.

You will mentor professionals and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, helping grow the national practice through strong client relationships and sound risk management.

Qualifications

• Degree in Toxicology, Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Public Health, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
• Progressive experience leading human health and ecological risk assessments in environmental consulting, industry or government.
• Familiarity with Canadian federal and provincial risk assessment frameworks and regulatory processes.
• Strong technical writing and ability to communicate complex findings clearly.

• Provide senior technical direction in toxicology, exposure assessment and risk characterization across Canada.

The Skills That Set You Apart

• A bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in Toxicology, Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Public Health, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Extensive progressive experience conducting and leading human health and ecological risk assessments in environmental consulting, industry, or government.
• Demonstrated expertise in Canadian federal and provincial risk assessment frameworks, technical guidance, and regulatory processes.
• Advanced knowledge of toxicology, exposure modelling, fate and transport concepts, risk characterization, and environmental health science.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects, budgets, schedules, quality reviews, and multidisciplinary teams toward defensible outcomes.
• Strong technical writing and review capability, including authorship of senior‑level risk assessment reports and clear communication of complex findings.
• Experience building client relationships, developing proposals, supporting strategic planning, and pursuing opportunities that grow technical services.
• A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel periodically to client sites and project locations.
